Hello

During my school years, I never really contemplated my future career. However, as a child, I spent countless hours in the woods crafting sapling cabins with balsam fir bows alongside a wonderful neighbor. It seems I had a passion for design from an early age. I owned Barbie dolls, yet I dedicated most of my time to constructing split-level homes for them using encyclopedias. When I reached high school, my interest in traditional learning waned, so when my English teacher suggested I explore vocational school, I took his advice. I initially thought he viewed me as lacking intelligence, but the truth was that his teaching style didn’t resonate with me. Consequently, I thrived in my drafting class. It surprised my English teacher when I received a scholarship to further my education. He promptly informed the school board that my scholarship was intended for vocational college, not a traditional college. The principal of the vocational school explained to the board that my drafting skills were applicable to my interior design program, thus qualifying for my college education. Regardless of the scholarship outcome, I was determined to pursue design. My drafting class revealed my talent for arranging spaces, so I eagerly moved forward. The highlight of college was when one of my English teachers suggested I should consider writing, as I had a natural flair for storytelling and description. After my high school experiences, I decided to focus on design. However, it was gratifying to realize I wasn’t as unintelligent as I had been led to believe. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise; it taught me that I could achieve anything I set my mind to. I firmly believe that where there’s a will, there’s a way. Today, I am one of only about 40 certified designers in the state of Maine. This is my journey, and I hope you find it as entertaining as I do. Life doesn’t always follow a straight path, but with hard work and passion, success is within reach.
